The Mellvids on the air in the U.S. !
On July 15th, 2000, we were on the air in Chris Nielsen's programme "One Night Stand", broadcasted by WUKY, a Lexington, Kentucky (U.S.A.) based radio station. This 1 hour programme runs every saturday (from 12 to 1 local time) and features bigband and dance band music in a very large spectrum : from the first half of the 1900's until now, from allover the world, from professional to amatuer (with an acceptable level) bands. Chris actively tries to discover these bands across the globe, and he found us on the web. We send him our demo CD and he decided to use a couple of songs from it for his programme. Afterwards he send us the CD of the July 15 "One Night Stand" radio programme. We took out the relevant fragments and mixed them down in an mp3 compilation which you can download here (800kB).
Through our contacts with him, Chris proved to be a very nice and reliable man, and certainly his work of promoting bigband music deserves the attention of bands playing this type of music. Therefore we would certainly encourage other bigbands to send him their sound material (demo, commercial recordings, ...) There is a good chance that Chris will use it in his show. It gives a special feeling, knowing that your music is listened to by 10s of thousands of people in the U.S., especially for a European amatuer bigband like ours !
